Edge of Darkness I 36" x 24" x 6" aluminum, silicone, neon artist's collection

Using light as a metaphor, the "Edge of Darkness" series expresses the feelings of hope and optimism that can prevail even in the midst of despair when all seems engulfed by waves of darkness. The "Edge of Light" series, in contrast, represents the sense of being amidst forces that can, at times, push one in unsought and undesirable directions. The sculptures in the "Edge Series" consist of singular neon units in primary colors embedded in a background matrix of silicone laid down in geometric, linear patterns. Both Series reflect an analogy to the contemplative forms found in Japanese rock gardens, an important aesthetic influence on the artist.
